At Microbia PE, our business is all about developing highly productive, low-cost bioprocesses. We bring these innovations to market in several ways:

Validation of Microbia PE's technology Prior to focusing entirely on the development of our own products, Microbia PE collaborated with multiple partners over approximately five years under a service business structure. During this time, we worked with eight different industrial partners, including multiple individual agreements with three companies. Four Microbia PE-developed strains were subsequently placed into commercial manufacturing! Our partners included several well-known leaders in their respective markets; DuPont Central Research & Development, Novus International, Tate & Lyle, Ranbaxy Laboratories, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. This proven track record of commercial success validates Microbia PE's approach to metabolic engineering more than any other metric.

Developing and commercializing our own products Our team has developed a novel production platform for "lipophilic chemicals"-fat-loving compounds that currently represent an aggregate commercial opportunity in excess of $2 billion. Two such products are currently undergoing process development and scale-up. Learn more

Strategic alliance with Tate & Lyle In 2006, Microbia PE aligned itself with Tate & Lyle, a world leader in renewable ingredients, to develop and commercialize new fermentation-derived products. This development and commercialization agreement provides a fully-integrated value chain for many products, and combines Tate & Lyle's significant fermentation experience and low-cost manufacturing infrastructure with Microbia PE's world class metabolic engineering expertise to enable the development of novel bioprocesses for sustainable biomaterials and industrial chemicals. Strategic Collaborations Microbia PE is actively seeking additional strategic collaborations with partners who share our vision for the role that industrial biotechnology can play in building a sustainable future. As opposed to providing a fee for service, we are seeking opportunities where we co-invest with a partner for the development of attractive commercial opportunities; such a relationship could be with Microbia PE independently, or through our Tate & Lyle collaboration.
